Časopis Zahrádkář ČZS vydává od roku 1969 populární časopis, určený všem zahrádkářům.

It associates about 170 000 members from the whole Czech republic, in 3000 basic organizations and 16 specialised ones.
Czech Union of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners is fully democratic, non-political, hobby association, history of which goes as early as King Charles the 4th times. First written records about growing and establishing of gardens have existed since 16th century. Czech Union of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners is helping its members with all problems arising in connection with gardening. This help includes growing advice, legal or financial support and the Union has specialised advisory service for this purpose. Czech Union of Allotment and Leisure gardeners guides its members to spend their free time going in for their hobby, there is great emphasis for social use of the gardens and upbringing of young generation for good relation to the nature.
To ensure this activity the union uses among others its vocational commissions. For friendly life together belong inseparably their social facilities like clubrooms, distilleries, drying rooms etc. For supply of everything they need there are garden centres.
To increase expert knowledge of all members of the Union, the Union provides expert education on all the levels of its organizational structure. The education of members of the basic organizations is ensured with expert instructors, who were educated in expert trainings of the Union and they are mostly also graduates of Central Academy of Leisure Gardeners.
The Union regularly publishes by means of KVĚT public house professional brochures not only for its members but also for the public. The topical goings of the day is described in the magazine Zahrádkář. There are issued educational and promotional materials for children every year.
All state or regional garden exhibitions are display of very good growing results of the leisure gardeners. The Union also regularly takes part in many professional all state horticultural or agricultural fairs.
There is fixed organizational structure in the Union. It consists of individual basic organizations, which are regionally associated into Regional Councils. Besides, there are specialised organizations, whose members are dispelled throughout all the republic. The central part is Republic Council of Czech Union of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners. The needs of these bodies are ensured from the headquarters of the Union.
From the point of view of democratic structure, every member has opportunity to participate on the decisions of the Union. Every basic organization delegates its members into Regional Council, from which are elected delegates into the top body of the Union the Republic Council. By this is fully provided democratic making decisions in the matters of the Union.
The elected Board of Republic Council is authorized to make decisions about crucial issues of the Union in the period between the meetings. The activity of the Union is set by the Statutes, on whose creation participate all members of the Union by their representatives. About all range of the activities, the changes of Law and Union events, the union has regularly been informing its members 3 4 times a year by means of the Bulletin.
Czech Union of Allotment and Leisure Gardeners has been the member of European League of Leisure Gardeners since 1996. The League associates 3,5 million of leisure gardeners from 15 countries of Europe, and their number has constantly been increasing. It proves, that leisure gardening is not unique only in Czech republic as some people believe.
